Patients FAQ:
What can I expect on my
first visit?
Dr. Cheff will perform
a thorough consultation
including
your health history, physical examination and x-ray examination. He
will tailor a treatment
plan specifically
for you. You will
receive heat, deep tissue massage (using tools specifically
designed
to provide comfortable pulsations that penetrate through all the muscle
layers
releasing tension and fatigue) and your spinal adjustment.
What is an adjustment?
Adjustments can also be referred
to as “specific spinal manipulation.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore
joint
mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have
become
hypomobile – or restricted in their movement – as a result of a tissue
injury. Tissue
injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper
lifting of a
heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an
awkward
position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In
either
case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can
cause
inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer.
Manipulation, or
adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility,
thereby
alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.
Will my adjustment
hurt?
Chiropractic adjustment
rarely
causes discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild
soreness or
aching following treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that
usually
resolves within 12 to 48 hours.Ice
packs are recommended if you are feeling any discomfort.
What do you need from me?
On your first visit, we
will need you to bring your
drivers license and insurance card(s).Our new patient form can be
accessed by clicking
here, or from
the link above. You may choose to print and fill out the forms
before your initial visit.
Please
note:If
your problem is due to an automobile injury or workers compensation injury, we will need to
contact
your insurance company immediately. We will need the necessary
claim
number, date and time of accident, telephone and addresses of your
insurance
company, and attorney information (if applicable). See our auto injury
page for
more information.
Will
I need x-rays?
X-rays
are a vital part of your initial visit. We only take x-rays that are
necessary
to your diagnosis. Our office uses high-frequency technology so that
your
exposure is kept to a minimum. Pregnant women and children will not
receive
x-rays. We take x-rays because to see is to
know, while not to see is to
guess and we do not want to guess about your health.
Will my insurance cover my
appointment? Is my insurance accepted?
We accept a wide variety
of
insurances at Cheff Chiropractic. Our
insurance manager will provide you with all the information you will
need on
your insurance eligibility and benefits. All co-pays and
deductibles are due at time of service. Visa, Mastercard, and
Discover accepted.
